We are stoked to be able to tell everyone we have drafted Hans Karlin into the ranks of METHANE! Hans will make his debut show with us this Friday, February 28th in Borlänge, Sweden at The House of Blues.

Swedish metallers METHANE, have announced HANS KARLIN (ex Cryonic Temple, Letters from the Colony) as their new drummer.

The Sweden based KARLIN, started after his school years with Cryonic Temple. A while later he had the chance to play with Letters from the Colony . He’s playing Odery Drums and Saluda Cymbals. Furthermore there is, and has been tons of influencers throughout the years and one who tops the list of drummers gotta be Dirk Verbeuren when he played together with Soilwork.

METHANE have just announced a number of live appearances this year in Sweden, which include Sabaton Open Air Festival on August 5th, 2020.So far, the following dates have been announced:

Feb 28 House of Blues, Borlänge, SE w/ Lysis
May 08 Fredagsmangel, Stockholm, SE
Aug 05 Sabaton Open Air Festival, Falun, SE

METHANE has built a reputation as a live band in the underground European metal scene playing with bands such as Nervosa , Warbringer and The Haunted. METHANE is currently booking more dates in Europe (Sweden, Finland, Russia, Germany, Benelux) and USA for 2020.METHANE is Heavy Fuckin Southern Metal from Sweden with drawing influence from Slayer, LOG, and Pantera. During the month of September we ran a contest to win a METHANE Thin The Herd U.S. tour t-shirt. The contest came about because we want to show our appreciation for all of you who support us by sharing our music and posts. The contest was #Tag5friends. Particpents tagged 5 friends in The Thin The Herd YouTube and Spotify posts on our Facebook page, then we drew random names from a hat on a live Facebook feed.

METHANE (groovemetal/thrashmetal) is now on tour in Europe supporting our The Devil’s Own Album released on Sony / Dark Star Records. With Eyes Wide Open (SWE) and Edge of Ever (DE) Tour Dates here. Methane has just completed its Baltic leg of the tour which included Finland, Sweden and Estonia and will be in continental Europe stating this Thursday in Hamburg Germany. the tour will last untill May 5 ending in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Methane has also recently confirmed a proformance at Metallsvenskan Festival in Sweden which will include WASP, Satyricon, Exodus and Entombed AD to name a few.

JIMI MASTERBO AND METHANE FEATURED IN MUSIC HISTORY BOOK

Our small rural region in Sweden is well known for its music scene and the bands that it has fathered. Hypocrisy, Dark Funeral, Pain and Sabaton are only a few of the well known bands who were procreated in the midst of the snow driven forests and dairy farms. Our city of Borlänge ,about 40,000 people strong, has been a large contributor to that music scene and that music scene is a large part of Borlänge’s identity. On April 7, 2018 a book “Dancing the Whole Way Home ” was released culminating 70 years of music in our town.

METHANE is very proud to be a small part, to even be mentioned among the thousands of musicians who have been spawned here Dalarna County. Jimi Masterbo (Methane guitarist) has been a staple in the music scene here for a long while and his formeer metal band Hell Patrol ,along with Christopher Säterdal and Jonas Arnberg of Viking folk metal band Fimbultyr and Stephan Pizza Eriksson who later would go on to play bass in Volturyon and Civil War, has a full 2 page feature in the Swedish language Publication.

February 21, 2018 we gave us off to Estonia from our rural town in the heart of Sweden. The weather was a typical mid-winter Scandinavian bone chilling cold. We packed up our “Tour Bus” a Renault station wagon and drove off twords Stockholm, where we would catch the ferry to Estonia. See all tourdates here

When we came to the port in Stockholm, we drove the Methane-mobile (which would become our cramped halfway house on wheels) on to the ship and found our room. The Baltic Sea was cold and full of ice that previous ships have broken, and like many times before we found ourselves on the 24 hour party boat on our way to metal clubs in a new country.

After a little celebrating on the boat we arrived in Tallinn around 10 AM, loaded our tired asses in to the car and drove off to meet up with our friends StoneSoul. We had played with StoneSoul before in Finland last year and have kept contact with DC and the guys ever since.

Then off to the first gig : Tartu, Estonia @ Underground. Where we would later meet up with our tour mates in INTACT. Undergound is a small basement club with a real “underground” feeling, setting the stage for a great 3 day tour.

Day 2: Valga, Estonia @ Rockiklubi. We woke up feeling like we deserved for partying with the bands and our new friends we met in Tartu, and made our way to Valga. Valga is a city divided by the borders of Estonia and Latvia. Rockiklubi had a feeling of being a squat, it was BYOB and spray paint on the walls. But an awesome crowd made for an awesome gig.

Day 3: Tallinn, Estonia @ Club Rockstar’s. Our last night was in INTACT’s home town and capitol of Estonia. THe 24th of February, the night we played, was also Estonia’s 100 year celebration. The city was in party mode. Rockstar’s looks and feels like a medievil dungeon which is fitting for the world’s most preserved medievil city Tallinn, built by the Tuetonic Knights and listed on UNESCO World Heritage preservation list.

Tallin was not good by just “see you again soon”. This March Intact will be here in Sweden playing a gig in Ludvika and and a show with METHANE in Mora at Lilla Helfvetet on 24 March. Its been a year since we played in Mora and can’t wait to come up again. We hope to see everyone come out supporting metal music and discover Intact’s heavy grooves, unique sound and great stage show, Presented by KILLAHEAD. INTACT on Facebook

METHANE ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN TOUR DATES

Methane has just kicked off its Signed In Blood European Tour on February 2 in its hometown of Borlänge, Sweden and now is releasing dates for this winter and spring. The groove metal quartet will be starting off in Estonia with Estonian metallers Intact and Finlands Stonesoul. On the second leg of the tour, Methane will be supporting Sweden’s Eyes Wide Open in Finland, Sweden and being joined with Edge of Ever in Continental Europe. Methane was last out touring for its The Devil’s Own album in the summer of 2017 with Brazilian thrashers Nervosa. See all confirmed dates here

“We are stoked to let everyone know that we have also confirmed a profromance at Berlin’s PROGRESS BEGINS FESTIVAL” on April 28, 2018. Eyes Wide Open will be headling the event. The Progress Begins Festival is a gathering of up-and-coming progressive and alternative Metal bands. It will take place for the first time in 2017 in the Maschinenhaus of the Kulturbrauerei in Berlin, Germany.
